Developmental Editing
As Interviews Section Co-Editor, I work with writers from their initial query to the final publication of their work. Along the way, I correspond with authors (asynchronously and synchronously) to further the development of their interviews, discuss design, provide feedback, and generally serve as a liaison between the Kairos editorial staff and the authors. Here are a few examples of webtexts I assisted with from start to finish:
- Hope Is a Practice: Reflections on Graduate Labor, White Saviorism, and Coping in the Peri-Academy A Collaborative Interview with Jesse Rice-Evans, Andréa Stella, and Anna Zeemont
- An Interview with Annika Konrad Emma Kostopolus
Copy- and Design-Editing
For Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy, I assist in copy- and design-editing webtexts from their initial acceptance until final publication. Each webtext undergoes editorial work from multiple editors over the duration of the process in order for each editor to complete their work with attention to a specific area (e.g., design editing, style editing, etc.). Here are some examples of webtexts I was directly involved with editing:
- “A Review of Digital Rhetoric: Theory, Method, Practice by Douglas Eyman” by Ruth Li
- “A Review of The Online Writing Conference: A Guide for Teachers and Tutors” by Beth L. Hewett Erin Fitzgerald
- “Motherhood on the Screen: An Exploration of Wounds Opened and Closed through Home Video” by Alexandra Hidalgo
- “Offshore with Cynthia Haynes” by Charlotte Lucke & Diane Quaglia Beltran
- “A Review of The Age of the Image: Redefining Literacy in a World of Screens by Stephen Apkon” by Estefany Palacio
- “A Review of Naming What We Know: Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies edited by Linda Adler-Kassner & Elizabeth Wardle” by Amber Simpson & Nick Stanovick
- “A Review of Academic Ableism: Disability and Higher Education by Jay Timothy Dolmage” by Manako Yabe
