Headshots-4

Hi, there! My name is Dr. Brandy Dieterle. This website serves as a representation of my multi-faceted self as a writer, editor, teacher, researcher, and hobbyist.

I’m a writer and editor with a passion for studying digital rhetorics and literacies, multimodal composition, and new media studies. I’m especially interested in how these subject areas intersect with identity and gender studies as people engage in self-presentation practices. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors (walking, hiking, running) and amateur photography (I use my iPhone, so truly an amateur). When indoors, I enjoy reading various kinds of fiction novels and I recently began cross stitch and have really enjoyed the process of making with my hands.

Learn more about my education and experience below.

Experience

I’ve been teaching college writing courses since 2011, most recently at the University of Central Florida, where I also served as a writing tutor for one year.

Since 2021, I’ve worked as a freelance writing coach for Defend, Publish, and Lead, where I work with graduate students and early career scholars on their writing and research.

I first began editing during my undergraduate degree, in 2009, by working as a copyeditor for the college newspaper. Since 2015, I have served in various roles with the peer-reviewed international journal Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy. Currently, I am an Interview Sections Co-Editor for the journal.
